This is the story of Karina—she was brought into a city shelter by a man whosaw her get hit by a car. She was alert but could not walk—she was so matted itwas hard to believe her condition in addition to her injuries. The vet tech at thevet office shaved her down –she weighed her before shaving her—and sheweighed 21 pounds—after she was shaved down she weighed her again andshe weighed 18 pounds—so 3 pounds of matts and knots were cut off this angel---she sat still no fussing or growling through the whole grooming---and this iswith the painful injuries she has---Upon taking x-rays the vet discovered that shehas several injuries—• a dislocated hip• a fractured pelvis• and a fractured femur. This is not a surgery that all general vets can do—it takes a vet that is an orthopedicspecialist or a very good surgeon. Right now Karina is on crate rest painmeds and anti-inflammatory medicine while the vets decide the best course oftreatment for her. Some might say it is too much money for one dog—but theshelter that called us about her told us that when the man brought her in rightafter she was hit and gave her to them—she was kissing their faces---these areWe do not normally put out pleas for donations—but this little girl has a seriousinjury that will be costly to repair even with a rescue discount. This is the story of Karina—she was brought into a city shelter by a man whosaw her get hit by a car. UPDATE ON KARINA---Karina has had her surgeries and is doing well--she does still have some issues --somewhat of a limp and some impaired mobility--she has a ramp at her foster home to go outside so she does not have to climb the stairs but she does great with it--lots of the other fosters use it too!!!  she uses the  doggy door great and does not easy access to go out to a fenced area---She is shy of men but loves her foster mom---she gets along well with the other fosters as well----We would love to find her a forever home, but it will need to be one that knows she needs a home where there are not big dogs to knock her over, or high energy kids--she would just love to be a sweet companion with a soft bed and a nice fenced yard---she has a lot of love to give and has really paid her dues---

Please email inquiries to:  leeselman@comcast.net for more info on Karina or for an application for her   We look forward to hearing from you.

Alll of our dogs are spayed/ neutered before adoption. Adult dogs have had their core vaccines---parvo, distemper, bordatella, and rabies, All dogs are tested and are heartworm negative.  In addition they have been de-wormed and kept on heartworm prevention and flea prevention while in foster care. Most dogs come with a micr-chip already implanted. Adoption fees range from 235.00- 275.00 depending on the dog. Many times the adoption fee does not even cover the cost of all of the vetting we have done for a dog.   In addition, some of our dogs are fostered in the South and come up once adopted---There is an additional transport fee for these dogs.  Please contact the person listed in the bio for more information on a particular dog. We are very careful in placing our dogs--and look for the best home for each dog--All of our dogs are fostered in private homes, with fosters who get to know the dogs and know the types of home that would be best for each dog. Thank you for considering a rescued pet and we look forward to helping you find a great dog match--
