Meet Theresa--as animal rescuers we love all of our rescues and even those we can not rescue. But once in a great while--a dog will come along that stands out even in the sea of dogs needing our help. Theresa is one of those dogs. This angel was abandoned at her home by her family with seven nursing puppies---she continued to care for them while she was literally starving to death. A concerned citizen called animal control and she was picked up and taken to a county shelter. While there still caring for her babies a litter of 6 orphan puppies were brought in.  As she had just weaned her own litter the staff tried to see if she would nurse these 6 and she did----After several days her time was up and she and both litters of puppies were scheduled to put to sleep--the animal control officer that had made the call to pick her up could not let that happen to her--after all she had been through and after she had been such a loving mother--so she took everyone home and called us for help---We rescued all and all the puppies got their own forever homes. Theresa had heartworms and had to go through treatment and get healthy---this girl has finished that treatment and as you can see is now a healthy and gorgeous girl.It goes without saying that only one of the best homes will do for this girl----her foster wants her new family to have big dog experience lots of time to spend with her---a fenced in yard so she can sunbath and lounge in safety. She gets along great with other dogs so a friendly dog companion would be nice as well. Theresa is truly one of those dogs that you are a better person for having known her---she affected everyone that met her and all joined together to make sure she had the chance for the kind of life she deserves.
